I've just applied for 2 library jobs (part time, so that I can still do my Artings :D ) so send duas/prayers & good/positive vibes this way please.

I'm so happy I've been able to finally conquer a problem I've had for a long time. I've always wanted to read more, but struggled to get beyond 4-5 pages ... get distracted or tired, then forget about the book completely! So I set myself a realistic task of completing a book, so everyday after dropping my daughter off to school I've been reading on my journey back, and on my way to pick her up :D it's working really well. Now if I can get this library job then I'll be surrounded by books all the time, so it'll be fun to see what random book I might pick.

I think it'll also help me keep more focused in some way (the reading)

I was going to share some photo's of a clock that I up-cycled, but my camera battery died just as I was about to load them :( oh well, guess I'll have to put them up 2moro. N'night

A few pieces for sale!

The first is an acrylic on canvas that was inspired by water, the droplet and ring around are both filled with intricate floral patterns. The blue background is metallic ( I mixed some silver with it to experiment.)

The 2nd is one of my favourites, I started it and didn't know what it was going to be... I came back to it a few months later and the part that was done looked like a butterfly wing, so it took off from there. The butterfly is done in golds and copper/bronze tones, mostly freehand painting with mixed shades of ultramarine blue background.

Aaaand finally Chocolate & golden sun. Golden bronze floral patterns inspired by henna designs. I don't know how well you can see from this image, but the circle in the centre is orange merging in to yellow with brown designs.

I haven't been blogging for a looOoong time now.. but really really plan to get back into it!

I am going to be doing some very random waffling now and to find out what to do for a chance to win the prize you will have to actually read it ha ha...

I'll start with sharing a pic of one of my more recent commission pieces that I really enjoyed making. Once I started I couldn't stop (do you like the rainbow text?) It's something I loved doing in emails along time ago... it could be classed as a waste of time.. but I like it.. makes me smile! :D .. I actually wish there was more colour choice so I could blend it better :S.. and waste more time!

The next images are from Marsden, photos I took on a walk along the canal where I exhibited some work last month with a very varied group of Artists.

It's just an incredibly beautiful place.. one of those places I've added to the list of places I would love to live in one day!

A few cards I had for sale at the exhibition were a work of creative collaboration with my twin sister... which you will probably be seeing a lot more of in the next few months & maybe years! I love that it takes away an element of control from my work.. and adds a little more unique-ness to them. No sales? (Veerrryy late)

Right I planned this a very long time ago yet after my initial research.. I didn't get round to writing up until now!
I've had a look at a few shops on folksy that either have no sales or very few sales.. so here's a little list of my own personal reasons & opinions on why I think we're lacking in the sales department!

The first shop I looked at was MysticsRealm.

My thoughts: There's something for every budget.. Really good range of items, things that appeal to vampire lovers (which there are a lot of) so maybe it's just not being targeted in the right places to get them to have a look! The pictures are taken very well.. Sold 5 items, and been on folksy since May.. so to me that’s really not a bad start! How do we find our target market.. and get them to our pages?

1st impressions: Great stuff, some slightly over priced…
(Came back to shop half a month later)Lots of detail in the work so maybe my initial feeling that maybe people are put off by prices is out. Wonder if it’s the marketing side of things that is just going to take time to get going? Do we need to be everywhere like twitter/Facebook/markets etc How do we get the right balance between making and marketing!?! Especially for crafters like us, trying to balance family life and getting a business going is hard work.. I feel guilty when I'm at the computer trying to do blogs/tweets/facebook just to promote myself and other artists and my daughter says I'm being lazy as I'm not playing with her, then I have house work.. mooo.

I'm starting to feel like I'm spending more time at the computer than making my art :(

The shop seems reasonable & lovely, the only crit I could make is that maybe the photo's need a little touch up or change of lighting. Here's one of the items I think looks lovely, but would look even better with a touch more lightening, So I took it on to photoshop and just adjusted brightness & contrast a little.

I picked two pieces that I think are just wonderful, the prices seem very reasonable, the photo's are taken very well.. just compliments all round (but that seems to be one of the things we get.. lots of compliments.. but lack of sales!) although she's had 1 sale!

Grrr had a very random mood swingy, frustrating, happy, uplifting,sad & angry day lol.. now i'm tired and thinking about all the arty and crafty stuff I'd love to be doing, all the house work that I 'HAVE/Should' be doing ...well actually i should be sleeping heheh , but i've been a bad blogger because of real life busy-ness. I get blood shot eyes which hurt when I'm stressed... so thats what I have now :S moo
I have been planning a blog for a few days now so I really want to get that done this weekend. I dont wanto be a incompleeterrr anymore,,.. or an eventually-completeerrrr. Ocotober Folkfest!

Well it seems to be working... we're only on the 3rd day, and although I spent the 1st organising my facebook fanpage, I've managed to list on 2nd & 3rd!

Aaaaalso I'm quite happy that over 100 of my fans are non family or friends from facebook :D so I'm almost at 200, which may not be very much, but it's growing slowly but sure...so I'm happy.

One of my new favourite sellers on folksy is the lovely Lilly's Night Garden

I asked her to make a personalised version of another card she has in her shop, she did it the next day (unless she read the message today... then she did it on the day!)..and it turned out exactly how I imagined.... infact, I forgot to ask her to add a little silver for sparkle... but she did that anyway...how great is that? :D

I've planned my next competition for when I reach 200 fans on FB, I now know what the prize will be... so I'll just sit here waiting for the last few to arrive! That's all for today as I have to get back to finish an online wedding invite that I'm making on photoshop :D lots of fun!

Busy Busy Busy!!

Hellooo,

I'v been very busy so I'm keeping this short as I've promised my daughter that I'll be spending a lot less time on the computer today!

I've joined the October Folkfesters this month to see if I can get more work listed...get me motivated and hopefully make some sales!!
I'll be featuring some of my fave work from fellow folksy-ers each week too.

Here's what I've listed today:

A little Butterfly love card - The large butterfly is printed, then painted and drawn over ..the rest is hand drawn and intricate design added with biro & fine line glittery pens. Hope you like!

Off to go play with my daughter who is now shouting "bricks bricks bricks" and turning the pedals on an exercise bike like she's churning butter lol :D

Well I seem to have done alot today... first I signed up to do a page in http://www.fantazya.ca/diary2011.html the diary project...excited!There are alot of spaces left to fill.. so if you have a art/art related website then go check it out... it's free publicity!
I also did a big tidy up and planting in the garden...lots of fun! Fymo bead & pendant making.
Lots of silly playing and fun with little one :D ... for someone who went to bed around 3am.. I had alot of energy today and even kept my cool..no loosing my temper..very happy.
I'm just really happy I've got back into making & doing art much more, it's very much like a therapy for me I guess.
I was just telling my husband, how I get an idea in my head of some arty thing I want to do... then feel like I have to or need to do it at some point soon... then I'm happy :D loving it!
Anyway.. think thats the end of my not so random rant of the day/morning... going to bed an hour and half earlier than yesterday.. thats good.

I should go to bed but would rather sit alone for a while longer and write my thoughts.
I have a few questions in my head so I'll start with them..
*Do we have control over how organised or disorganised we are?
*Can we control how lazy or active we are?
*Do I have a problem with prioritising everything in a 'proper' order, or is it that I do the easy priorities, but leave the more complicated ones for later?
Maybe I need to put a reminder on my phone telling me to check my list of things to do, and add things to it every two hours..hmmm that might work!
Also keeping on track... sometimes I try to do so many things at once or in one day that I totally forget other things that could be important.

Anyway totally new subject in my mind now... football. I'm very glad to see England play with some enthusiasm and effort rather than acting like a bunch of over paid princesses. While it worked out badly for the french, all the problems seem to have lead to realisation and used in a constuctive manner for the brits :D I even surprised myself for actually wanting to support the lads on Wednesday, I am very much aggainst the ridiculous amounts they are paid and what it's made the game in to, this whole corporate society stuff has to come crashing down for them too soon.. this isn't a real resession, if people can still afford the over priced football match tickets or to go to world cup..where is all this money coming from? why are the banks still putting out these crazy credit cards that hardly anyone can pay back? What Is wrong with people these days... are too many of us not happy with the simple things in life?
Ok eyes closing almost now... off t'bed!
